@gingerrroot One of the women in the office brought her dog into the office, and he was a great dog.

@gingerrroot he was an absolute dog. He's a boxer / black lab mix, very muscular.
I was giving him rubs and he was leaning into my shins πŸ˜‚

@somarasu i love muscular dog mixes!!!!!! pits and boxers are some of
my favs. i have a boxer now

@gingerrroot saw a smol groundhog this week that I was able to get pretty close to without it getting scared!

@hache nice!! i saw a fox skittering through some grass on my way to work. animals are great

@gingerrroot in my neighborhood the squirrels are very used to humans and will actually approach when you chitter.

@hache bless!! my school used to have squirrels that would come up and steal food lmao

I took off from work Thursday to see a bird called, believe it or not, the Worm-eating Warbler. It is extremely rare in Michigan. I didn't think I could find it, but I followed instructions & walked a mile down a wooded path along a remote place called Swan Creek 50 miles from my house. I played the warbler's song on my phone, & it zipped over to see me. I was stunned. Small things like this keep me going.

I hope you feel better soon. Anxiety is the pits. I have it BAD, too.

@BobTarte what a cute little bird!!!!! that’s so amazing and great and i’m so happy for you to have been able to see it.

@gingerrroot

Thanks, Ginger. You are very nice. These warblers aren't even supposed to be in Michigan at all, they are southern birds.

But at this remote and a little bit scary (because it is so remote) place called Swan Creek, these warblers are actually nesting and breeding. It may be the only place they are breeding in the whole state of Michigan, and just a very, very few of them.

It amazed me to find a tiny bird like this in a place I'd never been, a real needed in a haystack.

@BobTarte That’s so interesting!!! I wonder what brings them your way? maybe changes in the weather have made michigan more suitable for them

regardless im glad you got to see it! the rarity makes it even more special i’d imagine.

@gingerrroot Thanks, Ginger. Sometimes when birds migrate, they initially 'overshoot' where they are supposed to go and end up too far north. Then they turn around and go back south. But these warblers apparently found a place they like at Swan Creek and have decided not only to stay, but to keep returning every year.

@gingerrroot yesterday was one of the best days i've had in a while!! included was tons of sunlight and no sunburn, an incredibly enlightening tarot reading, and a late night drive with the boyf to visit some friends πŸ’žπŸŒ»πŸ΅

@gem !!!!!!! this is so great and good and lovely and i am v happy to read it

@gingerrroot
Mario Tennis Aces came out today, and it's really fun. I miss playing tennis IRL though; I don't know anyone who wants to play anymore.

@humanbattery oh that’s neat!! i liked the older mario tennis game a lot and i remember enjoying playing in phys ed in high school (although i was not good lmao)

i hope you find someone to play with soon!

@gingerrroot I spent a day with my mum for her birthday and we went to the local wildlife park ^^

@gingerrroot I helped build a bonfire, and saw it through from big pile of wood to embers and it was really pretty! we saw lots of stars while we were around the bonfire too :)
