@lores Thanks for the follow! I appreciate it. You are a fabulous artist. Sorry about the personal branding coach. I hate all of that. That's probably why I'm not wildly successful as an author. Can't/won't do that stuff. It isn't just stubbornness. "Selling myself" causes me great anxiety.
@BobTarte Thanks for the compliment! We had some nice conversations so it's normal to follow back (I still don't really know who to follow on mastodon and how the timeline works!). And for the personal branding, yeah same, it's just part of an 8 month training with lots of formations and training to become an "entrepreneur" (or in my case a freelance illustrator), half of the formations are about marketting yourself and I am *drowning*. I just hope my artworks speak louder than me
@lores I hope it works out for you! It really is quite daunting doing even the tiniest fraction of what is supposed to be basic marketing. When one of my books was published, my agent wanted me to create a blog about one small subject I wrote about in my book, and this was in addition to my website and social media presence. I declined, having spent lots of time on other promotions that never helped a bit. I've got a bad attitude, I guess.
@BobTarte Like, I really admire the SFF writers illustrators, and publishers I'm following on twitter, they always seem to have something interesting and meaningful to say about what's happening in the small SFF world, but I'm not like them : have no idea what to say (and I'm kinda scared of saying the wrong thing!). I do know how to use the semi-colon though, so that's that.
@lores Hahaha, yes, the semi-colon. I only use it as a last resort and will rewrite sentences endlessly to avoid it. I can't remember the last time I've used a semi-colon. Probably in place of a comma in a complicated list.
